Hey, folks! Welcome to another exciting entry in the Base Gorilla video tutorial series, where we explore creating funky glitch-hop tracks from the ground up. I’m Slynk, and I’m thrilled to guide you through this musical journey. We will cover everything from the initial beat to a polished, record-ready track. Ready to dive in? First, let’s jam to the tune we’ll be working on throughout this series—but first, a bit about me.

Introducing Slynk
Yes, you guessed it from my accent. I hail from the sunny coasts of Australia but found myself soaking in the rain-drenched vibes of Vancouver, Canada, two and a half years ago. Don’t let the weather deter you; it’s a fantastic place, and I’ve grown to love it here. The people are great, and the music scene is vibrant.
With over a decade of experience as a professional DJ and producer, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing my music released on a multitude of record labels. You might know some of them—ghetto funk, Adapted Records, and most recently, my album on Section Z, Front Yard Futon. I’ve headlined gigs at festivals and clubs worldwide, with Shambhala’s Fractal Forest being one of the most notable. If you haven’t heard of it, be sure to check it out. It’s an unforgettable party!
My Musical Journey
I’ve had the opportunity to play across the globe—Italy, Germany, the UK, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, you name it. Some of my tracks have topped the Beatport, Glitch Hop charts, and Juno Download. In 2014, Stickybuds and I even won an award for the best free track, which we released on Soundcloud. Awards are cool, but the real win is sharing music with you all.
