10. Parookville

Parookaville is a three-day EDM festival, taking place annually since 2015 in Weeze Airport in Weeze, Germany. Now one of the biggest EDM festivals in Germany with more than 12 stages and 300+ artists. Parookaville is based on the idea of ​​a city that comes to life once a year and is named after the fictional founding father Bill Parooka. In fact, the name Parookaville comes from the indie film Palookaville and the Fatboy Slim album of the same name. Instead of tickets, visas are sold to guests who are then referred to as citizens. The festival area is divided into city districts and numerous elements of a city can be found.

We Are FSTVL is a London dance music festival curated by some of the scene’s most established brands, such as Defected, ABODE and Glitterbox. Its lineup stretches from house and techno all the way to grime, garage and drum and bass, showcased across over eight stages inside its self-proclaimed Airfield of Dreams in Upminster.

8. Northern Bass

One of the few festivals to go ahead in 2020, Northern Bass is three days and nights of New Year celebrations!  Situated just over an hour north of Auckland in the summer hotspot of Mangawhai, Northern Bass brings together a world class selection of musicians, DJs and producers to provide the perfect soundtrack for bringing in the New Year.  You can immerse yourself in Northern Bass by staying onsite at our campground, but you can also stay at one of the many beaches and or campsites in the Mangawhai/Kaiwaka area.

7. Creamfields

Creamfields is the UK’s oldest and most prestigious EDM festival. Founded by UK club promotions company Cream it was first held in 1998 in Winchester then moved to Cream’s home city of Liverpool.  Taking place in the Liverpool airport, then moving to its current event space of the Daresbury estate in Cheshire. Creamfields began as a one-day event but is now a four-day event that includes camping and RV options hosting 70,000+ people per day.

6. Burning Man

Burning Man is a week-long event held annually since 1986 in the Black Rock Desert of northwestern Nevada. The event is held approximately 100 miles (160 km) north-northeast of Reno. As outlined by Burning Man co-founder Larry Harvey in 2004, the event is guided by these ten principles: radical inclusion, gifting, decommodification, radical self-reliance, radical self-expression, communal effort, civic responsibility, leaving no trace, participation, and immediacy. Burning man is widely acknowledged as a bastion of creative freedom with music and artwork including experimental and interactive sculptures, buildings and art cars that traverse the ancient river bed the event takes place on.

5. Let It Roll

The history of the Let It Roll festival goes way back to the year 2002 when the Drum & Bass scene started to form slowly in the Czech Republic. It was in this year when the first Let It Roll event took place in the former Prague club “Mlejn”. 

After a couple of successful years it moved to the city of Benesov in 2013 where it introduced the mammoth futuristic design stage for the first time ever, alongside the concept of the “Opening Show” which has been officially starting the festival ever since. 2015 meant the last change of venues thus far, moving onto the former military airport in Milovice near Prague. Hundreds of local as well as foreign DJs are performing at the festival each year, including the biggest and hottest Drum & Bass acts.

4. Mysteryland

Mysteryland is the EDM festival in Haarlemmermeer, Netherlands. Organized by the Netherlands-based promoter ID&T. Being the first of its kind in the country, its organizers say it’s the oldest dance music festival in the Netherlands. Held at Haarlemmermeerse Bos in Haarlemmermeer. Originally a one-day event, in 2015 it was extended to a three-day event with camping. Every year, more than 100.000 people from over 100 countries attend Mysteryland.  In 2011, Mysteryland was held in Chile, the first to take place outside the Netherlands.

3. Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE)

ADE is a yearly five-day EDM conference and festival in Amsterdam. The event is organized by The Amsterdam Dance Event Foundation and offers a full program of daytime conferences alongside the ADE By Day festival program and the nighttime ADE Festival, featuring over 1,000 events and 2,500 artists over five days in 200 clubs and venues around the city. The event starts off on Wednesday with the daytime conferences and the extensive festival (day and night) program and ends on Monday morning.

EDC is the largest EDM festival in North America. The annual flagship event is now held in May, at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. EDC utilizes music and art to inspire. In addition there are Interactive art installations throughout EDC, carnival performers and a variety of carnival rides. EDC events have been held in other states and abroad, including Mexico, Puerto Rico, the UK, Brazil, Japan and India. Currently, EDC is held annually in Orlando, China, and Mexico, along with the main Las Vegas event.
