In this exclusive interview with Vespers, we wanted to find out the story behind how he got started with his Youtube channel as well as his music.

We also found out some great tips for making large, heavy bass sounds, as Vespers has been focusing on this genre recently.

Vespers is Drew Betts, and comes from Victoria, BC, Canada. He has lived in Vancouver and also did a short stint in San Francisco. He mainly makes glitch hop music, and started off in Cubase before making the move over to Ableton Live around 2009.

Vespers Interview

It was around this time that he started publishing videos about Cubase / Ableton on YouTube. As one of the earlier adopters to start publishing on this growing social media platform, things took off and he was able to get a pretty big following of music producers watching his videos.

If you listen to his music, you will often hear the sound of a saxophone being played by Vespers. It is one of his signature sounds that he incorporates into a lot of his music, creating a jazzy feel to his otherwise glitched up funky beats.

Big ups to Flatmate as always for the intro music (The song title is Corn Flex, out on Caliber Music)
