Lots of jokes and fun times doing this exclusive interview (scroll down to the player on this page) with the neurohop pioneer and bad man producer Kursa. Tons of great tips and tricks from him on bass music production in this one. If you want to know how to make neurohop or how to make neuro bass then listen to this and you will pick up a lot of tips and insight on Kursa’s workflow and approach to production, his preferred equipment and plugins and more.

This interview is a little different to any others we’ve done so far, as Kursa is playing some of his bass sounds during the interview and then talking us through how he makes them. It was refreshing to hear that he never uses Native Instruments Massive – not that I dislike it at all (it is my go-to synth for bass) but almost every other producer out there uses it all the time and rarely uses FM8 or Ableton’s Operator, or Alchemy. Towards the end of the interview he gives some great tips on how to EQ your basses, so make sure you listen to the whole thing.

You can also learn about how he makes his trademark drums and his thoughts on layering snares. Pure science talk – if you don’t produce music you might not know WTF we’re talking about at times… but if you do produce, you should find the info in this interview highly useful.

He also talks about how he does his live performances using Ableton Live. He puts a lot of effort into preparing for his live sets to get everything set up to be able to innovate during the performance to keep the crowd on their toes.

Shout out to Flatmate also for the intro music (The song title is Corn Flex, out on Caliber Music)
