MakO Interview – What You DON’T Know About Neuro

I was so stoked to be able to do this MakO interview that I was literally jumping around in my apartment when he said he was down to do it. If you’ve ever heard any of MakO’s music, you’ll know why.

When we finally published this podcast episode, it was shortly after MakO had sadly decided to stop producing under the name MakO. He still produces music and anyone who knows his music strongly wishes that he will come back under a different alias some time soon.

Because he had decided to stop and the news was spreading around the forums and social media in the bass music community, producers around the world were rushing to check out this podcast episode with him, where he reveals tons of tricks for creating his signature neuro bass sounds and drum sounds.

This episode had more than 1000 downloads from iTunes within a week, and this was only 5 months after BassGorilla launched. Needless to say, MakO really helped BassGorilla to grow in those early stages, reaching a wider audience than ever before.

MakO is Daniel Smith, a highly talented producer from Coventry, UK. He has a background in drumming, which he says has had a huge impact on his ability to create his earth-shaking, funky beats that you hear in his neurohop and dubstep.

He has had releases with Caliber Music and Adapted Records, as well as collaborations and remixes with producers including Candyland and Protostar.

A lot of people were asking me to interview him and find out his secrets –   if you want to know how to make dubstep and neurohop basses and beats like MakO, you need to listen to this with no distractions. Keep a note pad handy to take notes on his tips (of which there are many!). Enjoy 😉
