I was stoked to be able to do this exclusive Stickybuds Interview – Tyler (AKA ‘The Sticky One’) is one of the world’s leading ghetto funk producers.

Ghetto Funk is one of the many flavors of glitch hop, and is characterized by its uplifting feel and heavy use of samples from 70’s and 80’s funk and soul records, combined with fat beats. Stickybuds pushes this style in new directions, incorporating a lot of reggae and hip hop and often switching to drum and bass style beats and basslines in his tracks and his live sets.

When we recorded this interview he  was a very busy man – just about to embark on a European tour after having just returned from a tour of Australia and New Zealand. He tours more than any other DJ I know, and it’s quite impressive that he manages to get so much music made during the short periods of time he has back at his place in Kelowna BC.

He is a resident DJ at Shambalah Music Festival, and has played at Burning Man (US), Glastonbury (UK) and Earth Frequency Festival (Australia).

He was currently sitting at number one in the Beatport Glitch Hop Charts with his new single Bouncy Bouncy with South Rakkas featuring Rage (out on Adapted Records) at the time when we released this podcast episode. It was a lot of fun to do this podcast with him just before his European tour.
